Smarter Mobility Africa Summit 2025 Unveils Updated Programme: Driving Africa’s New Urban Era Through Smarter Mobility

The Smarter Mobility Africa summit (SMA) 2025, taking place from 30 September – 2 October 2025 at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, has officially released its updated programme, showcasing a powerful line-up of leaders, innovators, and trailblazing sessions that will shape the continent’s transport future.

Under the theme “Embracing the New Urban Era Through Smarter Mobility”, this year’s agenda brings together over 100 speakers, exhibitors, and investment leaders to explore Africa’s most pressing mobility challenges and opportunities — from Advancing Public Transport systems to accelerating the transition to New Energy Vehicles (NEVs).

Programme Highlights Include:

  • Workshops & Training (30 Sept): Hands-on sessions led by the University of Johannesburg and Chrisnelsa, covering green transport and electric/hybrid vehicle awareness.
  • Opening Ceremony (1 Oct): Featuring Motlhabane Abnar Tsebe (President, SANTACO), Hon. Frank M. Tayali (Minister of Transport, Zambia), Imogene Mncwango (President, SABOA), Eng. Liftery Ndaba (Town Clerk, Lusaka City Council), Imtiyaaz Riley (Chief Executive Officer, Loop) and other leaders shaping Africa’s transport policy.
  • Conference Tracks (1–2 Oct):

Advancing Public Transport Stage – electrification of bus fleets, integration of e-hailing, and building inclusive transport systems.

NEVs & Infrastructure Stage – charging infrastructure, financing models, carbon credits, and grid innovation.

Mobility Investment Projects Stage – 25 projects from across Africa pitching to investors, offering tangible opportunities for growth.
